Perunovich, along with North Dakota junior forward Jordan Kawaguchi and Maine junior goaltender Jeremy Swayman are among the ‘Hobey Hat Trick’ final three.

Last week the Hibbing native agreed to a two-year entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues.

The three-time All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) first-team selection and three-time NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year became the Bulldogs’ first NCHC Player of the Year, it was announced last week. He was lead the league with 32 points, 28 assists in 24 NCHC games this season.

No other school has produced more Hobey Baker Memorial Award winners than UMD who has had five. If Perunovich wins, he’ll be the sixth Bulldog to win, the 10th Minnesota native, but the first from Hibbing.

The winner of the award will be announced on Saturday, April 11.
